Image iBoP Asia, with the Ateneo Innovation Center (AIC), launches iTalk: Innovation Talk to provide a platform for learning and information-sharing among key players in the S&T and BoP movements in Southeast Asia. The main goal of iTalk is to bridge the gap between the academe and real world innovators by providing a space and venue for dynamic learning and collaboration among them.

With the core message “Let’s innovate together!”, iTalk links iBoP Asia’s pool of grantees/partners with the students and faculty, primarily of the School of Science and Engineering (SoSE), of the Ateneo de Manila University. The interaction happens online and during actual meetings.

iTalk Online Interaction Page
iTalk has a Facebook page that serves as an online Q&A discussion facility between our grantees/partners and Ateneo's pool of technical experts and students. iBoP Asia grantees/partners can use this page to share and exchange ideas with our faculty members and students.

iTalk Learning Labs
iBoP Asia with the AIC hosts small group discussion sessions or "learning labs" that allow face-to-face interaction between our grantees/partners and the School's faculty and student innovators. These learning labs are great opportunities for our grantees/partners to present their projects and innovations to people, who can, in turn, help them develop their innovation further or connect them with relevant groups/organizations.

Learning Labs hosted since November 2009:

The Base of the Pyramid

The BoP is a socio-economic designation for the roughly 4 billion individuals who live below $4 per day, living mostly in rural villages and urban slums in developing countries.

Public Value of S&T Innovation

Contrary to popular assumptions, there is the emerging idea of a BOP-centric approach that can tap the market potential of those at the bottom of the pyramid.

About the Project

The project aims to foster innovations that can effectively address the developmental needs of the economically marginalized sector in the region.
